Brain-based Leadership Coaching
It is crucial to ask and answer the right questions to become actively involved in writing the story of the life that YOU want. If this is not done, one day – soon – you might look back and realise you have been helping others to achieve their dreams while neglecting yours. Never is anyone to blame, but yourself – as we all are the authors of our own life stories.
Brain-based leadership coaching helps you ‘own up’ your growth and progress to lead a life you might never have imagined. It’s done in a non-threatening manner acknowledging that we all are leaders (if only of our own lives) and we all sometimes need a little ‘nudge’ to ‘move’ forward.
Coaching sessions are done via telephone, Whatsapp, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or face-to-face.
What is Brain-based Coaching?
- This approach is a conversational partnership focused on your needs. The coach (that’s me) has but one agenda which is to help you address your needs.
- It is about insight-producing conversations regarding your unique situation and needs to help you make the right decisions.
- We seek to create a non-threatening environment where you feel comfortable to be fully engaged, completely honest, and results-driven.
- There is a constant focus on creating movement, however small and in the direction of your choice, to break free from whatever is holding you back.
- It is founded on six insights explained by Dr David Rock (2007), allowing each coaching partnership to be unique and personally shaped to your needs, being:
- “The brain is a connection machine.” This calls for every impasse to be resolved in a manner suitable to your unique needs.
- “Up close, no two brains are alike.” While basic functions like walking and moving an arm are similar for everyone, your circumstances call for unique thinking that only you can do.
- “The brain hardwires everything it can.” To limit the use of the brain’s ‘central processing unit’ it creates habits for everything it can, which often plays out as bad habits. Coaching helps you to break free from a typical destructive auto mode.
- “Our hardwiring drives automatic perception.” Often referred to as ‘below the surface of the iceberg’, consisting of beliefs and attitudes that influence our perception of the world. Coaching also helps you to break free from possible limiting beliefs and attitudes.
- “It’s practically impossible to deconstruct our wiring.” Simply said, what is focused on, is enforced. Coaching shifts the focus on results – viewing the problem just long enough to help to define the action necessary to reach the solution.
- “It’s easy to create new wiring.” Whenever something new is experienced, like travelling to a new suburb, city, or country, new ‘wiring’ is formed in the brain. The key is to have the right amount of quality and quantity of focus to change the neurological pathways in the brain – for good.

What Brain-based Coaching is Not
- It is not a cast-in-stone ‘formula’ for success. While there is a process, each interaction is directed by you. My expertise will allow conversations to zoom in on your needs, while your commitment, dedication, and perseverance will contribute to you achieving goals which you have set.
- It is not a half-hearted, maybe it can work attempt at changing. When you commit to the partnership – it is 100% where you are held accountable to give feedback on progress made with each session.
- It is not an ‘infinite’ partnership where I try to ‘hook’ you for an additional income. I am here to help you ‘move forward’ within a set timeframe. Depending on your needs and programme, we usually achieve this within 12 – 24 weeks as my joy sprouts from your success.
- It is not a ‘fix’ as you are not ‘broken’! We all have made mistakes or got ‘stuck’ in the past. This is an opportunity to move beyond focusing on what is wrong to gain personal insights which will help you create the life that you yearn for. This we do by unearthing what is already within you.
- It is not a time to feel embarrassed about possible missed opportunities or about anything else. I arrive without any judgement and I guarantee complete confidentiality – period!
Designing and Facilitating Workshops
Designing
Clients who need a specific programme or workshop, like an Onboarding journey for new recruits, a workshop on how to manage Key accounts, learning more about how to serve customers, or just a unique team-building experience can contact me to create a unit standard aligned programme or workshop, or it can be designed according to the unique needs of the business.
Facilitation
I facilitate leadership and management workshops focused on developing these skills, also on improving teamwork, and on enhancing conversation skills. This usually leads the way to an engaged workforce and a happy and loyal customer base.
My approach to relentlessly drive the need for effective and efficient customer service always bring about a significant change in attitude and behaviour of the delegates, regardless of the organisation’s size or the type of workshop.
Facilitation is done face-to-face at the client’s preferred venue, on Zoom, or via Microsoft Teams.
Clients
My design, facilitation, and coaching clients range between junior to middle and senior managers. Clients that contract me to design and facilitate workshops are either service providers to larger organisations or I am directly contracted by organisations who seek my services. When I deliver a programme like Onboarding, the typical clients will range from the most junior employees in an organisation to the most senior ones.
Coaching conversations take place during individual coaching sessions or with groups who want to significantly improve their overall team performance.
My passion has allowed me to also help friends who were not necessarily working within an organisation, yet who yearned for more.
